(Jeff Motz/KFOR News)LINCOLN–(KFOR Aug. 8)–Lincoln Transportation and Utilities (LTU) this week  announced that portions of three streets will close beginning this weekend. The closures are as follows: 14th Street from “R” to “Q” streets is closed to southbound through traffic for Project “O” Street improvements. Local access will be maintained. The recommended alternate route for southbound traffic is 13th Street. This work is expected to be completed in late August. Weekly construction updates are available at ProjectOStreet.com. Southbound and northbound 56th Street between Nebraska Parkway and Waltz Place/Waltz Road and eastbound and westbound Old Cheney Road between 53rd Street and 59th Street will have outside lane closures beginning Sunday, August 9 for a traffic signal replacement. This work is expected to be completed in late September. “O” Street from 13th to 12th streets will be closed to westbound traffic beginning Tuesday, August 11 for water main replacement work. Traffic will continue to be able cross “O” Street at 13th and 12th streets. The recommended alternate route for westbound traffic is “N” Street or “Q” Street. Travelers are encouraged to seek an alternate route and exercise caution around these closures.
