An iconic landmark in downtown San Jose is closed because of concerns about dying trees. NBC Bay Area cameras were there Friday as city crews fenced off Circle of Palms Plaza, located next to the San Jose Museum of Art. The city said all 32 palm trees in the plaza are in decline, and 15 appear to be dead or dying. To prevent a tree from potentially falling and injuring someone, crews closed the area Friday morning. The city said it will work with a contractor to determine the scope of the damage and develop a timeline for removing the affected trees. Until then, Circle of Palms Plaza will remain closed.
