INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — A judge on Thursday sentenced a 23-year-old Indianapolis man to 76 years in prison after he pleaded guilty to two counts of child molesting, the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office said.
The sentencing of Teshon Gardner came from a home invasion that began at 11:30 a.m
. June 29, 2024, at a home on South Worth Avenue. Indianapolis police said Gardner forced his way into the home at gunpoint and raped a mother and her 12-year-old daughter. Gardner recorded the assaults on his cellphone.
The woman’s 1-year-old and 8-month-old children were in a different room when the attacks happened. Gardner left the home an hour after arriving.
Neighbors provided detectives with surveillance footage of a blue Ford F-150 driving on South Worth Avenue at 12:31 p.m. the same day as the home invasion. Police used the footage to track the truck to West 28th Street, where they arrested Gardner during a traffic stop.
While Gardner initiallly denied the assaults, he showed investigators a “Motown” tattoo on his torso. The tattoo matched the specific description the mother gave to police.
The sentence was handed down in Marion Superior Court 28.
