WESTFIELD, Ind. (WISH) — It was a big day for Colts running back Jonathan Taylor, as he signed a two-year contract extension worth up to $47 million to stay in Indy. Taylor is heading into his seventh year with the Colts, and the contract extension will take him through his ninth year with the Horseshoe. Taylor shared why it is so important to him to stay in Indianapolis. “The commitment that the club has towards me, but also the commitment that I have towards the club, that I definitely want to be a part of helping this organization and this team win, and win for a long time,” Taylor said. Taylor has said he wants to be a “Colt for life” and was consistent in saying he had faith a deal would get done. “Things we’re definitely progressing,” Taylor said. “Like I told you guys, I always had faith and just a matter of time. It takes time to work those things, those deals, so just being able to stay patient and just knowing that both sides wanted the same thing. We had a common goal.” The character of his teammates was a driving factor in why Taylor wanted to remain a Colt. “I think it’s not only the players that we have from an on-field perspective, but the type of guys that they are from an off-field perspective,” Taylor said. “I know what they do, the type of work they put in, but I also know the type of guys they are. Unselfish guys, guys that are willing to give their all for the man next to them. When you have a team like that, the sky is the limit.” Colts head coach Shane Steichen had nothing but good things to say about Taylor. “It means everything,” Steichen said. “The way he prepares, the way he goes about his business, the player that he is, he’s so electric. Everything he does from a community standpoint, from a teammate standpoint, I can’t say enough great things about him.” Taylor is a three-time Pro Bowler.
