Outside Lands festival brings music, food to Golden Gate Park

It’s that time of year again as the annual Outside Lands festival takes over Golden Gate Park for a weekend of music and food.
The three-day festival kicks off Friday, featuring 90 bands and an expected attendance of more than 200,000 fans across the weekend.
This year’s headlining acts in
clude Charli XCX, The Strokes, Rüfüs Du Sol and PinkPantheress. NBC’s Christie Smith is providing a closer look at what attendees can expect on the festival grounds.
While the music is the main draw, the food and drink options are a close second. Festivalgoers will have the option of sampling dishes from 100 Bay Area restaurants, which includes 18 new restaurants this year. The culinary lineup features notable establishments such as Nobu, Brenda’s Soul Food, and the Michelin-starred Angler.
Tanya Kollar serves as the food curator for Outside Lands, overseeing the massive operation. In a preview of the festival’s dining experience, Kollar was asked to detail her selection process and explain what makes the food at Outside Lands unique compared to other music festivals.
She also weighed in on which two dishes stand out the most this year and offered recommendations on what fans should get to drink.
