In Loving Memory of Pauline Spencer. There are people who simply exist, and then there are people whose love changes the lives of everyone around them. Pauline Spencer was one of those people. Born on October 3, 1957, in New Haven, Connecticut, Pauline was the beloved daughter of Roseina Spen cer and Paul Morris. From an early age, she carried a heart full of compassion, strength, and unconditional love qualities that would define the way she lived her life. Pauline attended Commercial High School (later known as Wilbur L. Cross High School), where she formed lifelong friendships and built the foundation for the caring woman she would become. To know Pauline was to know unconditional love. She devoted her life to serving others, not because she had to, but because that was simply who she was. She was a preschool and head start teacher, then began working at the Dixwell Q House, spending time in the community. Simply opening her heart to someone in need, Pauline made people feel seen, valued, and loved. The newly built Dixwell Q House Senior Center is where Pauline loved spending her time. She enjoyed playing bingo, laughing with friends, sharing stories, and being surrounded by the community she cherished so deeply. Above all else, Pauline was a devoted mother, grandmother, family member, and friend. She leaves to cherish her memory, son, Schmon Spencer; daughter, Roseina Spencer; grandkids, Schmon Spencer, Jr., Mytisha Spencer, Tashalek Williamson,  Michael Spencer, Paul Spencer, and Shawnice Spencer; along with a family and community whose lives will forever be better because of her love. She was preceded in death by her beloved older sister, Nadine Spencer. Pauline had a gift for making everyone feel like family. Her smile brought comfort, her laughter filled every room, and her presence made people feel at home. She didn’t just help people she loved them. Though our hearts are broken by her passing, we find peace in knowing that her legacy lives on through every life she touched. The kindness she showed, the wisdom she shared, and the love she poured into others will never be forgotten. There will never be another Pauline Spencer. She was one of one. She was love in its purest form. She was home for so many, and she did not play about her grandkids!  Rest peacefully, beautiful Queen. Your work here is done, but the love you gave this world will continue for generations to come. You will be forever loved, forever missed, and forever remembered. A celebration of her life will take place Thursday, August 6, 2026 at 11:00 AM at Howard K.
