Firefighters are battling a five-alarm blaze at an apartment building in the Bronx. A report of the fire along East 209th Street, between Decatur Avenue and Parkside Place, came in around 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, fire officials say. It started as a second-alarm fire and escalated quickly. The c aller reported a fire and explosion on the third floor. Five people were said to be injured, at least one of them seriously. Footage the FDNY posted to X showed angry orange flames through the window of one of the apartments; the building’s exterior appeared charred by flames and smoke. Operations are ongoing.
