A 21-year-old Los Gatos man suspected of driving under the influence of alcohol was arrested early Tuesday following a fiery crash on Highway 17 in Campbell that left another driver dead, according to the California Highway Patrol. The collision happened at about 2:48 a.m. on southbound Highway 1 7, just north of Hamilton Avenue, the CHP said. The Los Gatos man was behind the wheel of a Dodge Challenger when he crashed into the back of a Toyota Tacoma, causing that driver to lose control, the CHP said, citing a preliminary investigation. The Tacoma then became fully engulfed in flames, according to the CHP. The driver, a 47-year-old Campbell man, died at the scene. His identity wasn’t immediately known. The Los Gatos man was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence and causing death or serious bodily injury, the CHP said. Authorities did not immediately release his identity.
