As NBC 7 and Telemundo 20 kick off the Clear the Shelters campaign, several dogs at the Chula Vista Animal Care Facility hope this is their chance to find a home. The nationwide adoption campaign aims to help pets across San Diego County find permanent homes. At the Chula Vista Animal Care Facili ty, staff members say some of their longest-resident dogs have simply not found the right person yet. “It’s completely heartbreaking for anyone who has to see these guys day in and day out, learn their personalities and see what they’re all about,” said Director of Animal Services Ashley Milo. Among those dogs is Lennox, a Malinois-shepherd mix who will mark two years in a shelter by the end of August if he is not adopted. “He’s been in shelters longer than he hasn’t,” Milo said. Milo said there is nothing wrong with Lennox or with other fellow long-term residents. She said they all are simply waiting for the right family. “They absolutely deserve a loving home. They all have great personalities,” Milo said. Milo said seeing dogs wait so long is difficult, but watching them finally leave with a family makes it worthwhile. “We go from tears of pain, watching them sit here to tears of joy.
