It could be time to rearrange your Top 8. The owners of Myspace shared that they plan to relaunch the once-popular social media platform. “We still own Myspace,” co-owner Tim Vanderhook said in a new “Myspace” documentary from director Tommy Avallone, according to People. “We are ste wards of the Myspace brand at this point, and we are going to relaunch Myspace.” Myspace was founded in 2003 and became one of the first major social media websites. It competed with Facebook for the top spot in the late aughts, but Facebook eventually vaulted ahead and left Myspace behind. Brothers Tim and Chris Vanderhook bought Myspace in 2011 and spent years looking to revive it as a music-focused brand. However, nothing stuck. “We really tried to modernize it, but it was a different company at that point. It wasn’t the same Myspace,” Tim said. “By that time, they had been through four other sets of management and CEOs,” Chris said. “We were going to be the fifth ones, and I think that there were a lot of the people who were really just done.” Myspace never completely disappeared, as it can still be accessed.
