The aunt of the woman killed in an Oakland shooting on Friday hosted a community event on Saturday that honors another family member and helps the community.
Just 24 hours after the shooting that killed 25-year-old Kimarrii McLemore, her aunt Brittia Johnson showed up with a heavy heart to host h
er annual event honoring Johnson’s daughter, Euniece Law, who was killed on May 28, 2007.
With the new school year around the corner, the event includes backpacks, a resource fair, a car show and more.
Despite these recent events, Johnson showed up to the event to honor her late daughter and niece.
“That just says a lot to her character that even through everything that she is going through that she is still feels she should be here for the community that’s really appreciated,” Chanel of Oakland said.
Johnson urges community members to “put down the guns,” regarding the shooting from Friday night.
The police are still searching for the suspect from the shooting.
