A City of Chicago employee has been charged with attempted murder in the shooting of a woman in Lincoln Park last month, according to Chicago police.Jaylin Jones, 23, faces charges of attempted murder and aggravated battery, police said.Jones, a security guard at Kennedy-King College, is accused of shooting a 39-year-old woman in the 600 block of West Belden Avenue on June 7. The woman drove herself to Northwestern Memorial Hospital where she was in critical condition at the time.Video footage caught Jones firing a 10 mm handgun before walking to a nearby parking garage, according to an arrest report obtained by the Sun-Times. Shortly after walking into the parking garage, a 2021 Toyota was seen leaving. Police said the vehicle was registered to Jones. Jones' supervisor at the community college identified him from video of the shooting, the arrest report said. City Colleges of Chicago did not immediately respond to a request for comment.Police said Jones, who had a valid FOID card, also purchased a 10 mm handgun prior to the shooting.
