Residents of Riverside, New Jersey, were told to avoid the 600 block of Bridgeboro Street, early Thursday, as a police investigation was underway. Law enforcement officials in Riverside alerted residents to the investigation at about 6:44 a.m. on social media. But, as of about 10:30 a.m., pol ice updated this incident — which officials later said was due to an armed individual barricaded in a home — to note it had come to a “safe conclusion.” Earlier in the day, officials said an investigation was underway along the 600 block of Bridgeboro Street and residents were told to avoid the area or follow instructions from officers at the scene. During the morning, NBC10’s SkyForce10 captured footage of officers outside of a property along the block and police tape could be seen hanging from signs on a nearby sidewalk. They also said the roadway would be reopened shortly. In an update around lunchtime on Thursday, police said the incident began at about 12:37 a.m., overnight, when officers encountered an armed individual barricaded along that block. Following a lengthy standoff, officials said the suspect was taken into police custody without incident at about 10:39 a.m. Officials did not immediately provide further information on the individual involved, nor did they say if this person would face charges in this incident.
