A person was shot and injured after San Diego police opened fire on a suspected stolen vehicle during a traffic stop in a San Ysidro neighborhood early Wednesday. San Diego police first spotted the vehicle, which matched the description of a stolen car, around 7 a.m. at an apartment complex near Del Sur and Beyer boulevards, according to San Diego County Sheriff’s Department investigators. Two people were inside the vehicle and police gave them orders to get out, SDPD officer Collin Steinbroner said. While it was not disclosed what led to the shooting, at some point during the traffic stop, an officer fired one round into the windshield. The passenger in the vehicle was struck in the shoulder, SDSO investigators said. San Diego police rendered aid until he could be taken to a hospital. The driver was detained for questioning. It was not disclosed if either face charges. One person was taken to a hospital with a wound to their shoulder while the other person was taken into custody, Steinbroner said. It is unclear which was the driver. Juan Loera lives across the street and captured video of the incident. “I just heard one gunshot. It sounded like one car hit another one.
