While many of the Philadelphia 250 events have come to an end, the City of Philadelphia is inviting residents to celebrate the festivals and organizations that brought the city together this summer. In June and July of 2026, as a part of Philadelphia 250, community activations were held across th e city’s ten City Council Districts celebrating the people who have shaped the city’s history. Footage from events like the ODUNDE Festival and the Lancaster Avenue Jazz and Arts Festival — along with the attendees, vendors and performers who took part in the programs— has been turned into a 1,776-second film, or 29 minutes and 36 seconds, called 1776 Seconds: Philadelphia Illuminated. 1776 Seconds will be projected on the North side of Philadelphia’s City Hall on Tuesday, August 4 in an event produced by Creative Philadelphia which will be free and open to the public. Starting at 6 p.m., attendees will be able to participate in a public art scavenger hunt and other activities. At 7:30 p.m., Philadelphia City officials will deliver speeches, and once the sun goes down, the film screening will begin at 9 p.m. While waiting for the screening, the city will have live performances featuring the Hiruy Tirfe Quartet, a jazz performance group, alongside local food trucks and themed mocktails and cocktails. Streets on the north side of City Hall will be closed, including JFK Boulevard between East and West Market Street, and North Broad from City Hall to Arch Street, at the event’s start.
