Wild pitch in 9th inning stalls Zap comeback; Decisive game three of wildcard series tonight
Jul 29, 2026
The Zap will have to clash one more time with the Casper Spuds for a chance to knock off the defending ILB Champion Spearfish Sasquatch next week after a heartbreaking loss in game two Tuesday night.
The Zap found themselves in a hole much like they did in game two of this best-of-three series, tria
ling 6-2 in the first few innings. But much like Monday night, the Zap were able to scrap together a few hits and bring a few runs across to close the deficit. A few errors followed by a Connor Goldberg double helped the Zap pick up two runs in the fifth, then a Blake Imhoff single in the sixth picked up another. In the seventh inning, the Zap tied the game at six on a Quinn Ludvigsen single and everything was square again.
In the bottom of the ninth, the Spuds put runners on and were able to score on a wild pitch that would hand them the 7-6 win, even up the series at 1-1 and force a winner-take-all game three tonight.
First pitch is scheduled for 7:30 PM CT in Casper and the winner is headed to the Championship Series next week.
