Firefighters halt 1.5acre vegetation fire in Mill Valley

Firefighters halted the forward progress of a 1.5-acre vegetation fire in Mill Valley late Monday afternoon, avoiding the need for evacuations, authorities said.
At approximately 4:42 p.m., Mill Valley police officers responded alongside Southern Marin Fire and mutual-aid partners to a vegetation
blaze in the area between Hillside Avenue and Blithedale Ridge, near the Blithedale Ridge Fire Road.
Upon arrival, police immediately secured the perimeter, managed local traffic and issued safety advisories for nearby residents.
Thanks to the rapid response from fire crews, the fire’s forward progress was stopped around 6:10 p.m. at approximately 1.5 acres, according to the Mill Valley Police Department. Officials confirmed that no evacuation notices were put in place.
Officers planned to remain in the area for several hours following containment to assist fire personnel with traffic management and public safety as crews worked to extinguish remaining hot spots and secure the area.
