Grassroots protesters to rally in Oakland against military action in Iran
Jul 26, 2026
Grassroots members of the Bay Area Iranian community and their allies will gather Sunday at Oakland’s Snow Park to protest ongoing military action against Iran and advocate for peace, human rights and self-determination.
The independent demonstration will take place July 26 from noon to 2 p.m.
near Lake Merritt. Organizers emphasized that the event is organized by individuals acting in their personal capacities. It is entirely community-led and is not affiliated with, sponsored by or representing any political party, nonprofit organization, government or advocacy group.
The demonstration calls for an immediate end to the U.S. and Israeli military campaign against Iran, alongside the protection of civilian lives and critical infrastructure. Protesters are also demanding the release and protection of political prisoners and respect for the Iranian people’s right to determine their own future, free from both war and dictatorship.
Organizers reject the notion that war or foreign military intervention can bring democracy or justice to Iran. Instead, they argue that armed conflict disproportionately harms civilians, destroys infrastructure and cultural heritage, strengthens authoritarian governments and undermines the Iranian people’s long-standing struggle for freedom.
Participants also oppose the ongoing repression carried out by the Islamic Republic. Organizers stated they stand in solidarity with the Iranian people’s demands for human rights, democracy and the ideals expressed through the Woman, Life, Freedom movement.
The two-hour gathering will feature speeches, signs and community members calling for peace, de-escalation and an end to violence against civilians.
