NEW CASTLE, Ind. (WRTV) -- Firefighters on Friday morning responded to an explosion and large fire at a scrapyard south of downtown New Castle.Photos from the New Castle Fire Department showed smoke billowing into a partly cloud y sky from Neal Scrap Metals, 1711 I Ave.Reports of the fire came in at 8:45 a.m. Friday. No injuries were reported.The fire department said in a Facebook post that it used an estimated 10,000 gallons of water to bring the fire under control, using a tanker from another fire department to bring additional water to the scene.The cause of the explosion has not yet been determined.
