(Jeff Motz/KFOR News)LINCOLN–(KFOR July 24)–As city leaders work to make Lincoln the quality-of-life capital of the country, a recent trip to Madison, Wisconsin, a city of similar size to Lincoln, helped with fresh perspectives and inspiring ideas. May or Leirion Gaylor Baird joined the Lincoln Chamber of Commerce’s intercity visit to exchange innovative ideas with peer communities, and told Lincoln’s Morning News on KFOR Friday some things they experienced were live concerts on the lawn of the Wisconsin State Capitol, along with an event to help launch more local business. Gaylor Baird says Lincoln officials met with business and community leaders from Madison to learn more about their efforts to develop their workforce, attract new talent, and create economic opportunity for all – the Madison Chamber’s data-driven approach got a lot of people thinking about how a similar process could be undertaken in Lincoln. Gaylor Baird says visits like the one to Madison give Lincoln leaders inspiring ideas, fresh perspectives and renewed confidence that investing in people, partnerships and place is the path forward. Lincoln and Madison are of similar size in population, plus both are home to major universities (Nebraska and Wisconsin) in the Big Ten Conference.     ...read more read less
