INDIANAPOLIS (WRTV) An inmate at an Arkansas prison faces murder charges out of Marion County for his role in the shooting death of a woman in 2023, the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department announced Friday.Erica Pedroza was found dead in the bedroom of a home in Camby in July 2023.In November 2024, U.S. Marshals arrested Pedrozas husband, Seth Smith-Robinson, in Nashville, Tennessee, in connection with her death. Smith-Robinson is currently being held in the Marion County jail awaiting trial.Investigation picked back up in 2025 after detectives received a tip that Pedrozas death may have been a murder-for-hire. IMPD says they reviewed old and new pieces of evidence, case files, and took multiple trips to Arkansas to speak with a suspect: 34-year-old Dalvin Carter. In May, Carter reportedly gave detectives the information they needed to present the case to the Marion County prosecutor.Prosecutors then issued a warrant for Carters arrest on Tuesday.Carter is currently being held in the Arkansas Department of Corrections following a seven-year sentence for a robbery and domestic battery incident. IMPD says Carter will eventually be extradited to Indianapolis to face his Marion County charges of murder and robbery. This arrest was made possible not only by the determined efforts of IMPD detectives but also by a critical community tip that moved this case forward, IMPD wrote in a media release. We remain grateful for our detectives hard work and the partnerships that help ensure violent offenders are held accountable. ...read more read less
