Dear Editor, We know Vermont has a housing problem; affordability and availability are both major issues here. I moved here during Covid-19 not to get away from a city but because my family lived here. I wanted to be a part of my grandchildren’s lives, so here I am.  I want to rebut someth ing a previous letter to VTDigger raised, saying newcomers to Vermont paid “obscene prices” for housing and ruined it for everyone else in the state. May I ask who set the prices for the homes sold during that period? It was the sellers who wanted to get the most they could for their homes, a fair and typical move when selling.  READ MORE I am a bit fed up with hearing that anyone who moved here caused the housing shortage. It had been coming for a long time. There was already a housing shortage before Covid-19. Yes, people moving here during the pandemic may have added to the shortage, but we are not the only reason and certainly not the main one.  Christine Grant Burlington, Vt.
