Photo via Adobe Stock VTDigger CEO Brendan Kinney announced Thursday that the online statewide news organization has recently partnered with four newspapers covering southern Vermont.  The latest partnerships with the Bennington Banner, Manchester Journal, Bra ttleboro Reformer and Mountain Times (Killington) build on VTDigger’s existing partnership with The Commons in Brattleboro, bringing the total number of community news sharing partners to 21. “This collaboration is a win-win for Vermont journalism and the readers who rely on us for high quality, relevant news from all corners of the state,” Kinney said. Through the partnerships, VTDigger provides its stories and photographs to local papers to run at no charge, and in exchange Digger is allowed to run stories from those papers.  “This gives community newspapers access to stories from other parts of the state, including state government news and in-depth investigations, at no cost,” Kinney said, noting that most papers are struggling to keep their newsrooms staffed and focused on local stories. In addition, the arrangement enables VTDigger to bring stories from southern Vermont and other regions to its statewide audience.  Among the other partner papers are the Waterbury Record, Stowe Reporter, Valley News (Lebanon, N.H.), Shelburne News, Addison Independent, The Hardwick Gazette, The White River Valley Herald (Randolph) and more.  To enhance our reporting and provide deeper value to our readers, VTDigger frequently collaborates with organizations that share our commitment to high-quality, impactful journalism. For example, VTDigger has also partnered with FRONTLINE, the award-winning documentary program, for a three-part series arriving in August. The series focuses on the aftermath of the 2023-24 floods and the ongoing recovery efforts of homeowners, renters, and local communities.
