CHICAGO (WISH) — A man led Indiana police on a car chase into Illinois early Thursday morning, resulting in his two young children being taken to the hospital after he crashed his car and rolled it. According to a Facebook post made by the Lake County Sheriff’s Department, around 2 a.m. T hursday, an officer with the Lake County Sheriff’s Department tried to pull over a stolen SUV on northbound I-65 near 61st Street, in northwest Indiana. The driver did not stop for police and fled, heading west on I-80/I-94 into Illinois. According to officers, the driver crashed into a parked car near the intersection of South 115th Street and South Longwood Drive in Chicago. The car flipped onto its side and slid. Inside the car were the 30-year-old male driver, who was not named, a 26-year-old female passenger, and their two kids, ages 3 months and 3 years. The driver of the car, who was not injured, was taken to an area hospital to be evaluated. Police found that he had several active warrants in Indiana, Illinois, and Michigan. The warrants are for charges including a weapon offense, robbery, fraud, and counterfeiting. The female passenger said she had chest pain and was taken to the hospital. The three-year-old is set to be released from the hospital with only cuts on his ears. The three-month-old is in the hospital for further evaluation.
