WAXHAW, N.C. – Waxhaw Police have arrested a man for his role in the death of a 33-year-old man. After responding to a call about an unresponsive man at a Cassidy Drive home, Waxhaw Police found Andrew Rivera, who would  be pronounced dead at the scene. His cause of death was determined to be th e result of a fentanyl overdose. Taylor Yates, 34, was arrested for distribution of the fentanyl, leading to Rivera’s death, a felony offense in the state of North Carolina. “This case is a reminder that fentanyl continues to devastate families in many communities, including our own,” said Waxhaw Police Chief Dexter Wilson. “The Waxhaw Police Department remains committed to aggressively investigating drug-related crimes, holding offenders accountable, and working with our partners to keep our community safe.” Yates is charged with felony death by distribution and trafficking in fentanyl and currently being held at the Union County Jail without bond.   ...read more read less
