Plano police said one person was hurt after a shootout involving police and a group of four people, three juveniles and one adult, that police claim they saw committing a burglary while police were doing surveillance. Police said it happened at a gas station around 4:23 a.m. Plano Police said their burglary unit followed the group of people into the parking lot of a RaceTrac gas station on International Parkway in Carrollton. When police got out of their vehicle, they said the suspect started shooting at the officers, who then returned fire. Police said they shot one person, who would need surgery. That person remains hospitalized and will be arrested at large, according to authorities. Another person was hospitalized with non-shooting injuries and is expected to survive. They will be arrested upon their release from the hospital. Two other people were arrested, and the investigation continues. Plano Police, Internal Affairs, and Carrollton Police are all part of the investigation. Police did not identify any of the suspects. Three detectives were involved in the shooting and have since been placed on administrative leave. Police said no officers were hurt. Police said the people involved “were known suspects that they were following and conducting surveillance on.” Jerry Minton, Plano PD PIO, believes this is an isolated incident. “There are no known suspects involved in this situation that are still at large,” Minton said.
