Oakland police are investigating the shooting death of a man who was found on the ground in the city’s Longfellow neighborhood Wednesday morning. Officers were sent to the 4300 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Way at about 7:30 a.m. in response to reports of a shooting. When they got there, t hey found a man who was on the ground and who had been shot at least once. The Oakland Fire Department was there before officers and declared the man dead at the scene, police officials said Wednesday afternoon. The man’s name is being withheld pending notification of his next of kin.
