Great getaways for the family this summer INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — We are in the height of summer, and many people might be looking to go on a getaway outside of Indiana. Kait Baumgartner with Indianapolis Moms joined News 8 at “Daybreak” to share some dream destinations for a vacation. Williamsport Falls, Williamsport Home to the tallest free-falling waterfall in Indiana, Williamsport Falls has a 1.6 mile trail and lots of creeks and water for kids to play in. Baumgartner says that there is parking at the trail but it does not have bathrooms or picnic areas, so Baumgartner says to plan accordingly for your family. Williamsport Falls is an hour and a half northwest of downtown Indianapolis. Squire Boone Caverns, Mauckport Squire Boone Caverns has ziplining, candle-making, and a candy shop, according to Baumgartner. You can book a guided tour of the caverns and see the different rock formations and waterfalls that are in the caverns. Baumgartner says that although it’s underground it’s still a good adventure for families. Squire Boone Caverns is two and a half hours south of downtown Indianapolis. BB Riverboats, Newport, KY Baumgartner says that while many people go to Newport for the aquarium, BB Riverboats is another gives families another fun thing to do in the city. They give cruises along the Ohio River. They offer themed cruises for kids, like superhero or princess themes. Baumgartner says that her favorite cruise is the ice cream cruise. BP Riverboats is two and a half hours southeast of downtown Indianapolis. Pine Lake Waterpark, Berne Baumgartner says that Pine Lake Waterpark is a huge waterpark right next to a lake. The park has slides, a splash pad, and areas to swim. The water park is open through Sept. 8 and admission is $12 for anyone 10 years and older, $10 for kids 4-9, and free for kids 3 and under.
