National Weather Service teams are hitting the ground in New Jersey as they investigate what appear to be two tornadoes that touched down during the height of Tuesday’s severe storms. NWS’ Mount Holly station shared a map of the areas they plan to survey Wednesday — one in Morris County’ s Parsippany-Troy Hills area, the other in Sussex County’s Stanhope. Video showed heavy damage. Officials are also looking into a possible tornado in Cape May. That survey NWS teams plan to do virtually, “as damage was sporadic and the tornado likely dissipated not long after it came ashore.” A full report is expected to be released by Wednesday night. A flurry of tornado warnings popped up as the system moved through. The entire NYC metro area was under a tornado watch at one point.
