A man is dead after barricading himself inside a house on Delaware Avenue in Oak Cliff, police said. According to the Dallas Police Department, officers and firefighters responded to the 600 block of Delaware Ave. at approximately 6 a.m. after receiving a call regarding a “disturbance armed en counter on foot.” Police said a male threatened a woman and a juvenile with a weapon, barricaded himself inside the home, and then set the home on fire. SWAT and Dallas Fire-Rescue both responded and are currently still at the scene, police said. According to police, the suspect was found with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound and pronounced dead at the scene. Officials said the woman and the child are safe. It’s unclear who is in the house, why they barricaded themselves in, and why or how the fire started. The fire department said the home is heavily damaged.
