July 21, 2026: A 56 year old man from Kennebec, South Dakota, died Friday (July 17, 2026) in a single-vehicle crash three miles south of Lake Andes in Charles Mix County. Preliminary crash information from the South Dakota Highway Patrol indicates Robert Nicholas Fischer Jr., was driving a 2000 Frei ghtliner semi southbound on US Highway 18 when his brakes locked up. The semi swerved into the ditch and rolled. Fischer sustained fatal injuries. The investigation is ongoing.
