A 70-year-old suspected gunman was taken into police custody on Monday night after, officials say, a man was shot twice in a North Philly home. According to police, officers responded to the 1500 block of West Allegheny Avenue at about 10:38 p.m. on Monday night after receiving a report of a shoo ting at a residence there. At the home involved in this incident, officials said, first responders to the scene found blood in a hallway and encountered a 70-year-old man. This man was taken into custody and a firearm was recovered from this individual’s pocket, police said. However, there was no victim at the scene. As officers investigated at the home, police learned a 36-year-old man had arrived at a nearby hospital after being struck in the abdomen and back in a shooting at the home on Allegheny Avenue. This man, officials said, was taken into surgery and was still receiving medical care as of about 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday. Police believe the victim was struck by gunfire after being involved in a fight at the home with a woman, before the 70-year-old man — who was taken into custody — intervened, officials said.
