FISHERS, Ind. (WISH) — Animal lovers and runners can lace up for a cause next month as the Humane Society for Hamilton County hosts its annual Woofstock Survivor 5K Dog Walk on Saturday, Aug. 8.
The event raises money for the shelter’s Survivor Program, which provides medical care for si
ck and injured animals rescued from neglect, abuse and abandonment. Organizers encourage participants of all fitness levels to take part, with or without their dogs.
The $59 registration fee supports the program and includes a race T-shirt, swag bag and commemorative medal. Following the race, attendees can enjoy an after-party featuring food, festival games, a police K-9 demonstration, a 50/50 Ball Drop and a new kids’ activity tent.
“It’s amazing to see how the Hamilton County community comes together through this event to help our most vulnerable animals every year,” Community Engagement Manager Emma Nobbe said. “Without their support for the Survivor Program, we could not provide the life-saving care that so many of our animals need to get the second chance they deserve.”
In addition to registering for the race, supporters can donate or create fundraising campaigns. Prizes will be awarded to top fundraisers in youth, individual, corporate and team categories, while 5K awards will be presented by age group.
