UNION CO., N.C. – A Union County high school is backing down after an mom’s outrage went viral online. Lindsey Anderson posted on social media that seniors are being allowed to paint their parking space at Marvin Ridge High School. But she claimed her son’s plan to paint an American flag in his space was rejected, because it could be seen by others as offensive. Anderson says, “I truly think I am the maddest I have ever been in my life. Like, I can feel my blood boiling.” The school later posted on Instagram that it had originally denied the request due to concerns about the standards of respect set by the U.S. Flag Code.
