The Little City is getting a new restaurant and bar with something for everyone. Billed as both a “family dining experience” and a cocktail lounge, the Stone Pour will occupy the subterranean space at 35 Green Street in Vergennes that was long home to Bar Antidote until its closure in Octobe r 2024. (Big Heart Social held its grand opening in the building’s separate upstairs spot on Saturday, July 11.) The Stone Pour’s “modern American” menu will be similar to Antidote’s offerings, co-owner Jennifer Stone said, including popular truffle fries. Familiar favorite cocktails such as blood-orange martinis will appear alongside handcrafted drinks including honey-lavender whiskey sours, butterfly pea flower vodka martinis, blackberry-coconut margaritas and mocktails with nonalcoholic spirits. The mom of four wants to “make sure that we’re inviting families in and that they have equal parts in the experience,” Stone said. The Stone Pour will serve lunch, dinner and Sunday buffet brunch, all with an affordable kids’ menu. At night, the restaurant will become a cocktail lounge with a “modern speakeasy vibe,” Stone said, featuring cozy couches, a curtained-off “VIP area” with Antidote’s old booths and martini flights. Live entertainment such as karaoke and DJ dance nights will help fill the nightlife hole left by the closure of City Limits in 2023. Stone has professional bartending experience and will run the bar. She spent the past 15 years working as a social worker with the Vermont Department for Children and Families, but “I’m at a place now where I want to make my dream come true,” she said. While Stone lives in Shoreham, the former Antidote “was my girlfriend hangout spot,” she continued. “I knew this was where we needed to be.” Stone and business partner Phil Pedlikin are currently looking for a chef to lead the kitchen while they refresh the space.
