BIDDEFORD, Maine (AP) — A federal immigration officer fatally shot a motorist in Maine on Monday (July 13, 2026), the second time in a week that U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents have used deadly force. Sen. Angus King, an independent from Maine, said Homeland Security Secretary Mark wayne Mullin told him that the agent opened fire Monday after the man tried to use his vehicle as a weapon against agents who were pursuing him for deportation. Bystander video taken after the shooting showed agents trying to slow a white sedan that was driving in circles in an intersection in Biddeford, southwest of Portland.
