Born: Spanish Harlem, NY Died: 04/21/2026 Buenavista, Guerrero, Mexico Details of service: Saturday July 25, 2026 at noon United Church of Lincoln23 Quaker St, Lincoln, VT 05443 Wanda Ivette Otero Esq. of Lincoln, Vermont passed away at her home in Buenavista, Mexico on Ap ril 21st of a heart attack. She was 57 years old. Wanda was born in Spanish Harlem, attended and graduated from Wesleyan University, SUNY at Albany, and Temple Law School of Philadelphia. She moved to Bridport, and worked at Paul, Frank and Collins. Wanda moved to Lincoln in 2012. She made Partner at Langrock, Sperry and Wool and became general counsel at VTNEA. She finished her legal career working at Littler Mendelson. Wanda found cause in helping families stay together, arguing before the State Supreme Court, and providing legal services for those who could not otherwise afford her skills. She translated at the Open-Door clinic in Middlebury, Vermont, and was an active member of the Lincoln Church community. She retired from the law in 2023 and moved to the Pacific Coast of Mexico with her beloved Bernese Mountain Dog, Bruno.  Wanda quickly integrated herself into the local community and provided a place for people to share her cooking, which, along with gardening, was a passion of hers. Wanda traveled back and forth from Mexico to Vermont often to spend time with her grandson, Jordan and her family. She has survived by her eldest daughter, international artist Rosa Leff and her husband, Asher of Puerto Rico, her daughter Kasandra, son Moises of Monkton, daughter Blanca, grandson Jordan of Bristol and her partner Paul Parsons, of Lincoln, Vermont. Her niece, Rosanne, her husband Louis and grandniece, Alivia, reside in Newport News, Virginia. Her ashes are interred at Wanda’s property in Mexico. A Celebration of Life will be held at United Church of Lincoln on July 25, 2026 at noon. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the United Church of Lincoln and the Open-Door Clinic of Middlebury.
