Senator Brett Lindstrom of OmahaLINCOLN, Neb. (Jul. 13, 2026 – KFOR) — Former state senator Brett Lindstrom of Omaha is officially jumping into the 2026 Nebraska gubernatorial race a nonpartisan candidate. Lindstrom, who served in the Legislature from 2015 and 2023, would join the ballot against Gov. Jim Pillen and former Democratic state Sen. Lynne Walz of Fremont. Lindstrom would need to gather at least 4,000 valid signatures, including 750 from voters in each of the state’s three congressional districts, by August 3rd to qualify for the November 3rd ballot. In a statement to the Nebraska Examiner, Lindstrom said that he was entering the race because, “Our state is facing a pivotal moment in terms of how we manage our budget and create opportunities for future generations and Nebraskans deserve another choice.” Lindstrom did not immediately answer who he had picked as his running mate. ...read more read less
