A 34-year-old New Havener died on Saturday after his motorcycle crashed into a fence on State Street. The New Haven Police Department (NHPD) reported the New Havener’s death in a press release posted on the NHPD’s X account on Saturday afternoon. According to police, officers were dispa tched to 681 State St. around 5:43 a.m. on Saturday, July 11, after receiving a call from someone who hadn’t witnessed or been involved with the crash. When officers arrived, they located a three-wheeled motorcycle that had crashed into the building’s gate, with the driver underneath it. He was pronounced dead on-scene. NHPD spokesperson Officer Christian Bruckhart confirmed to the Independent that an investigation is still underway. An initial investigation found that the motorcycle was traveling south on State Street prior to the crash, “which might have happened several hours earlier,” according to police. No other vehicle is believed to have been involved. Bruckhart said that it can take weeks or months to receive toxicology results from the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, in order to determine whether alcohol might have been a factor. Police have not released the victim’s name at this time. The post Motorcyclist Dies In State Street Crash appeared first on New Haven Independent. ...read more read less
