Formed in 1997 in Southern Indiana with a sound that sits between post-nu-metal and alternative rock, featuring low-tuned guitars, big choruses, and songs heavy enough for the pit, but melodic enough for rock radio, Evil Engine #9 ruled the local rock scene, regularly playing legendary local venues such as Toy Tiger, Phoenix Hill Tavern, Tek World, and others, they shared the stage with numerous national touring artists, earned major label attention, rock-radio support beyond Louisville, and worldwide acclaim before going quiet shortly after their 2009 release The Naysayer. Reunion talk came and went for years.
