Rural St. Sponsored by the Health and Hospital Corporation alongside a robust network of community partners, this event underscores a deep commitment to children’s health and preparedness as the school year approaches. Pamela Humes, director of the Covering Kids and Families program, which assists families in securing vital health coverage, highlights the event’s far-reaching impact. “This gathering is about more than just school supplies; it’s about ensuring our children have the health resources they need to succeed,” Humes said. “We bring together key services — from dental and vision screenings to immunizations — all under one roof. Families can access these resources for free, with no registration necessary — just come and benefit.” What’s Available Attendees can expect a range of offerings, including clear backpacks stocked with pens, pencils, paper and folders, plus essential health screenings and sports physicals. Parents can also obtain birth certificates, car seats, diapers and baby formula, creating a comprehensive support system for families. Adding to the festive atmosphere, the event will feature haircuts, food, fun and games, complemented by a Fire Safety Festival staffed by the fire department. Approximately 40 vendor booths will provide additional information and resources.
