July 8, 2026: The water use restriction in Fort Pierre has been lifted as of Tuesday night (July 7, 2026). As a reminder, the Fort Pierre City Council has passed a resolution implementing a voluntary lawn watering schedule for this summer, based on a person’s address. People with an even numbered address are asked to water on even numbered days and people with an odd numbered address are asked to water on odd numbered days. Voluntarily adhering to the even/odd watering schedule helps take the pressure off of Fort Pierre’s water supply during the hottest and driest months of the year. The voluntary lawn watering schedule is in place through Sept. 30, 2026. Anyone with questions can call the Fort Pierre City Office at 605-223-7690.   July 6, 2026: The City of Fort Pierre is putting a water use restriction into effect for all water customers, beginning at 10pm Monday (July 6, 2026). The restriction remains in effect until further notice. Mni Wiconi will be replacing a valve on their service line. While the work is being done, the line bringing water into town will be shut off and Fort Pierre will be using water from its storage tank until the valve is replaced and the line is turned back on. Fort Pierre water system users are asked to limit all lawn watering and unnecessary water usage until the water use restriction is lifted.
