Here’s a roundup of happenings for Thursday, July 9, to Wednesday, July 15.  *Starred events are free to attend, al though they may include ticketed components or a suggested donation. Marion County Fair Thursday, July 9-Sunday, July 12: The Marion County Fair returns to Salem for four days of animal showcases, live music, carnival rides and fair food. The fair, held at the Oregon State Fairgrounds, highlights many local businesses, artists and performers. Thursday features reduced admission prices: $3 for guests ages 6 and older, and free admission for veterans, first responders and their families, and children 5 and under. Gates open at 12:30 p.m. Standard admission is $9 for adults, $5 for seniors 62 and up, $5 for ages 6-12 and free for children under 5. Find a full schedule of live performances, animal competitions and contests for kids here. Parking is $5. The fairgrounds are at 2330 17th St. N.E. Christmas in July movie night *Friday, July 10: Take your Christmas pajamas out of storage for Salem Cinema’s Christmas in July screening of “Home Alone.” The festive evening will begin at 5 p.m with Christmas crafts and writing letters to Santa. There willI be free popcorn to enjoy during the movie, which starts at 6 p.m. The event will be in the food court, and it’s free to attend. The mall is at 401 Center St. N.E.  Murder mystery night Friday, July 10: Aspiring detectives can help solve a murder at Salem’s historic Grand Theatre during an improvised murder mystery show. Performers from The Imperfect Murder Society will take suggestions from the audience, including surprise reveals, suspect names and the type of murder. Audience members can dress fancy or come doused in fake blood. Tickets are $15 online or $20 at the door. The show is at 7:30 p.m., and doors open at 6:30 p.m. The theater is at 191 High St. N.E. Concert at the Capitol for America’s 250th  *Saturday, July 11: Though the Independence Day fireworks are over, people can still celebrate America’s 250th birthday during an orchestra concert at the Capitol. The Salem Philharmonia Orchestra will play classic patriotic songs such as “You’re a Grand Old Flag,” “America the Beautiful Fantasy” and “Stars and Stripes Forever.” The free concert will begin at 11 a.m. People can bring picnic blankets and lawn chairs to sit. The concert will be held in the Capitol Mall park, just north of the Capitol, 900 Court St. N.E. Yoga at Riverfront Park *Wednesday, July 15: A local yoga studio will be having a free evening outdoor yoga class at Riverfront Park. The 60-minute, all-levels class hosted by Yoga + Beer will be held at the Gerry Frank Amphitheater near the river. The class will be from 6-7 p.m. It is free to attend, though a $5-10 donation per person is recommended. The park is at 200 Water St. N.E. Find more events Have a news tip?
