The Port of San Diego on Monday confirmed Saturday’s Big Bay Boom fireworks display experienced technical issues after some San Diegans complained that this year’s Fourth of July show was underwhelming. Several people on social media showed confusion or said they were disappointed by this yea r’s Big Bay Boom, which is an annual synchronized display from four barges along San Diego Bay. In a statement, the Port recognized the confusion. The agency said a technical issue caused an eight-minute delay to the start of the show and contributed to a synchronization failure between the four launch points. “A technical issue delayed the show by eight minutes and caused the Harbor Island barge to begin firing a minute or two after the other three barges,” the Port of San Diego said in a statement. “We apologize for any confusion this caused for viewers, including those watching from home. We are grateful the fireworks team was able to troubleshoot quickly and safely.” The Port said that once all four barges were firing, just a few minutes after the show began, the rest of the display went off as planned.
