Mauro Appointed Senior Advisor For CT Dems
Jul 06, 2026
The state Democratic Party has tapped New Haven Democratic Town Committee Chair Vincent Mauro, Jr. to serve as a senior advisor to help boost voter engagement.
CT Dems spokesperson Ian Clarke sent out an email press release Monday morning with that announcement.
According to the press release
, “Mauro will provide strategic counsel to the State Central Executive Committee and work alongside Democratic elected officials across Connecticut to build and strengthen voter engagement programs.”
Mauro, a former chief of staff for the Connecticut Senate Democratic Caucus, currently works as a government affairs advisor for the lobbyist firm McCarter English LLP.
He has served as the head of New Haven’s Democratic Party since 2013, and was recently at the center of an unsuccessful complaint filed by Andrew Rice with the Connecticut Democratic State Central Committee over how Mauro ran this year’s Third Congressional District convention.
“Vin knows firsthand what it takes to run a disciplined campaign, win tough races and inspire our Democratic base,” Gov. Ned Lamont, a two-term incumbent Democrat currently seeking another four-year term in office, is quoted as saying in Monday’s press release. “His appointment as Senior Advisor is a major win for Connecticut Democrats because Vinnie is a collaborator at heart. He understands the unique challenges our local town committees face, and he has the strategic vision to help our chairs maximize their ground games. I’m thrilled he’s taking on this role to help us build a unified, energized statewide team headed into November.”
“I’m honored to take on this role and to help strengthen our Democratic base across Connecticut,” Mauro is quoted as saying in that same press release. “Our party’s strength comes from our people — from the activists, the organizers, and the local leaders who show up every single day. I look forward to working closely with our elected officials, our town committees, and our town chairs in every corner of the state to expand voter engagement, support our candidates on the ground, and make sure Democrats continue delivering results for Connecticut families — and celebrate big wins up and down our ticket in November.”
The press release also includes words of praise from state Democratic Party Chair Roberto Alves, state Comptroller Sean Scanlon, and state Treasurer Erick Russell.
“Vin Mauro has been a driving force behind the New Haven DTC’s sustained leadership as a political powerhouse,” said Russell, a former vice chair of the state’s Democratic Party. “He has been a friend and trusted advisor to me and many other leaders in Connecticut state government. He is a skilled organizer, messenger, and strategist, and this new role will enable him to leverage those talents for the benefit of Democratic candidates across our state.”
