Fire crews are working to contain a 150-acre wildfire along SH-21 near mile marker 19, southeast of Boise. Officials have asked hikers to avoid Cervidae Peak Trail while crews continue to respond.The fire caused closures on the highway Friday, but the roadway has since reopened, according to the Boise County Sheriffs Office. The closure was between the wildlife tunnel and High Bridge.USWFS said that firefighters knocked down the active fire spread Friday evening, strengthening containment lines and extinguishing hot spots. Even with overnight winds, fire officials have reported the containment lines have held.On Saturday, crews will work to continue improving and reinforcing containment lines while extinguishing remaining hot spots.As of Saturday morning, the fire has been mapped at about 150 acres.USWFS crews are responding to the fire, along with BLM Boise District. An estimated containment time has been set for 8:00 p.m. on July 4, with a control time set for 8:00 p.m. on July 5.The cause of the fire is under investigation.USWFS is asking the public to use caution while traveling through the area on Fourth of July weekend. ...read more read less
