The Sixers have reportedly made their first two-way contract pickup of the summer. The team has agreed to a two-way deal with Rayan Rupert, ESPN’s Shams Charania reported Friday. Rupert is a 22-year-old French wing listed at 6-foot-7, 205 pounds who was last with the Grizzlies. He’s made 155 NBA appearances and averaged 4.1 points, 2.3 rebounds, 1.0 assists and 0.5 steals in 14.0 minutes per game.  Rupert has obvious defensive tools, including a 7-2 wingspan and smooth movement. He got extended playing time in his 16-game stint with Memphis and posted 12.2 points, 6.4 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.6 steals per game. Rupert tallied a career-high 33 points in the Grizzlies’ April 5 loss to the Bucks. On 4.1 three-point attempts per contest, Rupert shot 33.8 percent.  The Sixers have had recent two-way contract success with players like Dominick Barlow and Jabari Walker, both of whom played significant minutes last season and earned conversions to standard NBA contracts. Rupert is the team’s first two-way addition with Mike Gansey as president of basketball operations. Every NBA team can roster up to three two-way contract players and tinker with those slots throughout the season. ...read more read less
