Two Chicago police officers were shot and taken taken to a nearby hospital Friday night, according to Chicago Fire Department officials.Another person also was hospitalized but it is unclear whether that person was shot, officials said. Officials would not comment on the condition of the police offi cers.Dozens of officers and more than a dozen police vehicles lined East 79th Street just east of South Jeffery Boulevard by 6 p.m. Friday after reports of a possible officer-involved shooting.Investigators with Chicago’s Civilian Office of Police Accountability responded Friday evening to an officer-involved shooting near 2000 E. 79th St., the agency said. COPA announced the response just after 5:30 p.m.CPD’s mobile command center was moved onto South Chappell Avenue, closer to where evidence technicians carried markers into an alley behind an abandoned convenience store, where the shooting appeared to have happened.At least one ATF agent was also present at the scene.When contacted for comment, Chicago police said they were still waiting on information from responding officers.
