USMNT win in Santa Clara brings pride to Americans across the nation

Just a couple of days away from the Fourth of July, many Americans have been bursting with pride for the country following one big event after another with the Olympics, the Super Bowl and the World Cup.
The most recent success was the U.S. national team breaking through in the knockout round of
the World Cup last night with a win over Bosnia.
National pride is what the World Cup is all about, and as these fans of Spain will say, nothing brings it out more than a world stage.
One fan says he saw it for himself Wednesday at the Team USA match against Bosnia at the San Francisco Bay Area Stadium.
“It’s always great when the US wins. Exciting. What was really special was the amount of American fans; a lot of times I’ve been to matches and we’re outnumbered by the opponent’s fans, but this time it was it was wall to wall American fans, and it was great to see,” Fresno resident Marco Torres said.
Another fan who watched the match at San Pedro Square says it’s more than just winning a game.
“Being an American with the World Cup coming into town actually has been a very joyous occasion. To see the rest of the world come to us, and kind of see what we are outside of the news and all that, and so it’s kind of upped my patriotism a little bit and it’s been an exciting time to, sort of, celebrate the melting pot that is America with the whole world watching,” San Diego resident Quinn Hovey said.
That rejuvenated pride showed at the FIFA store at San Jose’s Santana Row where the store is restocking after selling out its USA Merchandise Wednesday.
“It’s very, very cool to see and be able to watch people walk in and look at the merch and say ‘Oh that’s so cool’ then come in and buy it,” FIFA store clerk L.J. Stendera said.
Some customers say it’s nice to see the nation coming together.
“Yeah, I definitely feel that ‘unity’, because there’s been a lot that’s been driving all of us apart. It’s been really nice to see ‘sport’ be a way to have all of us come together,” Livermore resident Melissa Landera said.
It has been sports that have done that lately. Many people said it does feel like kind of a carryover from the Olympics to World Cup.
