CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The scorching summer heat is pushing local first responders to the brink. MEDIC reports that Wednesday was their second busiest day of the entire year. Dispatchers fielded 594 emergency calls. That included five heat-related emergency responses Wednesday alone, with at least o ne more reported Thursday.
